Vedanta Retreat at FARMHOUSE58

Discovering the Ancient Wisdom of Vedanta in the Cradle of Humankind

Join us for an immersive weekend and an opportunity to retreat in nature to explore the improvement of your overall sense of wellbeing.

Participants will engage in a daily schedule similar to that of the Vedanta Academy in India, including lectures, group discussions, early morning study, yoga, gentle hiking, music, poetry and nourishing meals.

Vedanta is an ancient philosophy originating over 5000 years ago deep within the Himalayas.

Derived from two Sanskrit words, 'veda' meaning knowledge and 'anta' meaning end or goal, Vedanta means the culmination of knowledge to create a more meaningful life experience and future filled with health, harmony and balance.

Vedanta Retreat at FARMHOUSE58

The Retreat

Living is an art, a skill, a technique. You need to learn and practice it As you would play a musical instrument or fly an aircraft - Swami A. Parthasarathy.

This retreat has been conceived to provide an opportunity to take a step back from the stress of daily life and immerse yourself in a weekend dedicated to personal development and well-being.

This ancient philosophy presents the eternal principles of life and living. It programmes a life of mental peace combined with dynamic action in the world. It equips one with clarity of intellect to eliminate stress and gain success by dealing with life's challenges.

Above all, its philosophy leads one to the ultimate goal of human perfection, absolute peace and happiness.

What is Vedanta

Vedanta philosophy is the digest of numerous saints and sages who inquired into the mystery of human existence. Their scientific approach and subsequent findings led to a systematic presentation of logical truths called Vedanta.

The authority of Vedanta doesn't rely on the instructions of a particular preceptor or master but instead establishes its authority through the presentation of fundamental principles governing human experience. Its appeal is universal and transcends borders, cultures, countries and creeds.

The authenticity of Vedanta is established and remains unfaltering and persistent throughout the passage of time. Unlike other sciences which deal with those fields of enquiry external to oneself, Vedanta presents as a subjective science investigating the inner landscape of the personality.

Through investigation, self-enquiry and discovery, and subjective experience, Vedanta aims to inspire dynamic action directed towards meaningful goals, establish a framework for attaining and improving emotional stability, and provide sincere seekers with clarity regarding meaning and purpose.

A predominant theme of Vedanta concludes that true happiness is a state one reaches not by changing the world but by changing how one meets it. A state reached only through an internal transformation.

Furthermore, the philosophy and its practical implementation support the attainment of material success, mental peace and well-being.

Embracing Balance

The world today is plagued by fear, anxiety and burnout. Stress-related diseases are among the leading causes of death worldwide. While the trigger for stress is external, the cause is internal.

The retreat aims to establish a more lasting state of human maturity. Seasoned teachers disseminate authentic, time-honoured ideas to bring about inner transformation.

All aspects of the personality will be addressed.

Through yoga, walks and light running, the physical body is maintained. The mind is catered to through uplifting and inspiring music and chants. The development of the intellect and acquisition of knowledge is attained through lectures, audio and video presentation, group discussion and individual study.
